Leather Swivel Tub Chairs
Besides the need to take the load off our feet, chairs make the home and office look beautiful. While they function in these two capacities, they are also required to provide comfort and convenience while we use them. By virtue of its design, a tub chair is able to deliver all these qualities. This chair has a circular shape. The back rest combines with the arms rest in one piece, providing solid secure support for both the arms and the back. The arm support is particularly useful for the purposes of reading, knitting, playing games or working. There are slight variations on the designs of the back of the tub chair, some rise gradually from the arm rest and peak at the back while others have a low back which is the same level all round.
Leather tub chairs suit many deco types. They are able to offer rich, warm textures and tones that are usually required in more traditional types of deco. These chairs also have the ability to give that clean sophisticated look to any modern deco. Leather is luxurious and yet very easy to maintain and with the proper care, can last for many years. A damp cloth easily removes any spills and a cream made for leather furniture restores its natural shine and texture. For this reason, leather chairs are found in dining rooms and kitchens, not just lounges and offices.
When tub chairs are used in an office, whether at home or at work, the seat should rotate. Swivel tub chairs with wheels offer mobility, comfort and convenience. The most convenient position to be in while working at an office desk is sitting. While sitting however some movement is still required. This movement is usually a short distance between a desk and a cabinet. The movement might also be a 360° turn to celebrate some good news. Swivel chairs usually have a stainless steel frame for strength and durability. They can be purchased from any good office furniture retailer or on line, where there are plenty of good deals and discounts.
A leather swivel tub chair can also be custom made. This gives the purchaser the opportunity to decide the exact shape and color the chair should be, making the chair perfectly suitable for its intended use.

Tub Chair
Tub chairs have become a modern furniture phenomenon simply because they are both stylish and very comfortable. The humble-looking chairs come in all sorts of colors and resemble a low-rider version of a bath tub. The chairs received their name from the posture which is associated with that of a bath tub in that they have a low sunken seat and high raised armrests. When someone reclines in a chair, their posture resembles one inside a bath tub with their frame wholly sunken inside the structure of the chair. This posture calls for a very comfortable and stress-relieving experience indeed as the tub chair is designed to completely ease pressure from the seater's backbone.
In the past, these chairs were mostly associated with the elderly who purchased the chair on the advice of a back specialist. After it was realized by the public just how potent these seats were when it came to relieving back stress, ordinary people jumped on the idea. Today, these chairs feature in many homes and also in places where there are waiting areas and receptions halls. Many of these places include hotels and other business establishments. The chairs cushion the back so perfectly that it is very possible to spend a considerable amount of time reclining on them.
Because of this demand for the chairs emanating from the general public who only a few decades ago was disinterested, many designers have jumped on the idea of making more daring innovations when it comes to the chairs. There are now many different variations of the this chair and one can easily find one that fits their particular taste. Since the chairs are pretty low and also very good-looking, they can fit and blend with existing furniture without causing a clash of ideas.
Why are tub chairs so appealing?
There is a simply answer to this; their style and color. Tub chairs come in all sorts of colors and their "low-rider" appearance causes them to fit almost anywhere seamlessly regardless of pre-existing furniture in the room. This means it does not take much to add a touch of taste to a living room. Simply buying a tub chair and setting it as a side pierce does the job wondrously.
The chairs have also gained renown because of their comfort level. Their design complements the most comfortable back posture recommended for a human being. That is why in the past the chairs were mainly recommended by back pain doctors and specialists as a way to regain posture and be most comfortable. Their comfort level has seen the chairs being purchased by hotels and other places where customers are likely to recline longer than usual.
Finally, tub chairs are affordable. We mentioned it is possible to accent your living room, bedroom or reception area with one or two without breaking your budget. There are also many websites out there dedicated to tub chairs. Another source can be the classified section of your weekend newspaper. These also come with excellent buying tips.

Tub Chairs Are Getting Into Mainstream Furniture
Great innovations have come to the world of furniture in the form of tub chairs. To understand how they came about, we have to go back and revisit the work of one Thomas Sheraton whom many have attributed to one of the finest contributions to the furniture art. In his work, "Cabinet Dictionary" in 1804, Thomas Sheraton writes how he was influenced by French furniture art and design to conduct research on what is now the tub chair. Tub chairs were a common feature in the French court especially during the reign of King Henry and have been referenced regularly by many French publications and literature dating back to that time.
But back in the 17th century, tub chairs were also being made in Boston by one George Bright. These resembled the modern tub chairs in that they were about three feet from the floor and also sported the characteristic arched armrests. The term "tub chair" was actually coined by one Charles Montgomery who was an authority on American interior design and who specialized in furniture and design which crossed over from Europe to the United States.
The tub chair acquired its name from the bath "tub-like" appearance that the chair affords not to mention the arched armrests which gave someone the appearance that he or she was sitting inside an actual tub. This is a very comfortable especially for someone that has back issues. When one sits on a tub chair, they are really sitting "in" it. Their entire body sinks into the chair and their arms are draped along the armrest which arches all the way to the floor. It is no wonder then that tub chairs are highly recommended by spinal and back specialists. This is because the tub chair design is ideal for supporting the spine and can help the back in case of back problems.
The chairs were the sole domain of the elderly and others who needed to rest their backs. They were also recommended by doctors to people who had spinal injuries and needed just the ideal chair to support their backs. Today the tub chair is an exotic pierce of furniture. They can be found in exotic designer furniture stores which cater to people with exotic tastes. These are people that want to accentuate their living rooms with a different taste.
The ideal thing about tub chairs is that they are comfortable. In this day and age when stress is at an all time high, tub chairs are the most ideal chairs to sink in after a long day at work. This means they are not just being purchased by people with back problems and spinal injuries, but are being purchased by regular people who just want a nice chair that eases their stress.
Tub chairs are also ideal because they are attractive. They look unusual and unlike the rest of the furniture that we are accustomed to seeing and this is a compliment. That is why many people buy tub chairs to enhance the look of their living rooms.

Custom Slipcovers - Tips For Measuring a Sofa to Ensure the Perfect Fit
Ordering a ready made slipcover only required that you know the general shape of a sofa or chair, but since they aren't customized for each piece, knowing the measurements is unnecessary. In contrast, ordering a customized fitted slipcover requires exact measurements in order to have them made to precise measurements and design specifications. Since they are made to fit any upholstered sofa, loveseat or chair for a removable square or T-cushion slipcover, there's more involved in taking the measurements than height and width.
Measuring Custom Slipcovers For Dining Chair
It's important to start by figuring out the style of dining chairs. Fitted slipcovers can be made to fit Ladder back, Parsons, Queen Anne, Colonial, Chippendale and most other styles of chairs with straight, curved, round or square, wooden or upholstered back up to 45 inches. Custom dining chair covers feature straight skirt with split kick pleat in the center of chair and two ties in the back. Custom slipcovers are made for both dining chairs with arms and armless chairs.
The measurements you'll need to take on a dining chair include:
1. Seat width - This requires two measurements if the width at the front of the seat and the width at the back of the seat are different.
2. Seat height - Measure from the floor to the top of the seat cushion.
3. Seat depth - Measure the distance from the front of the seat cushion to the back.
4. Overall chair height - Measure from the floor to the highest point of the back of the chair.
5. Seatback height - Measure from the top of the seat to the highest point of the seatback.
6. Seatback width - The seatback width measurement is at the top of the seatback.
7. Seatback depth - Measure how thick the seat back is at its widest point.
8. For dining chairs with arms, these additional measurements are necessary:
9. Overall arm height - This should be the distance from the floor to the top of the arm.
10. Arm height - This is the difference between the seat and the top of the arm.
11. Arm length - The measurement should be taken from the front of the arm to the joint where it meets the front of the seatback.
12. Arm width - The measurement of the top of the arm, how wide it is from left to right.
13. Distance between arms - If arms are tapered out, you'll need the measurement from the widest point from the inside of each arm to the other.
How To Measure Sofas, Loveseats And Chairs For Custom Slipcovers
When measuring for a custom slipcover for a sofa or chair, there are several things to determine up front. Seat cushions are either square or require a T cushion slipcover. A T cushion slipcover wraps around the front of the seat, making the shape of a 'T' when viewed from above. A square shaped cushion fits evenly within the frame of the seat, looking like a perfect square or rectangle.
Seat backs are the next thing to determine. The back cushion is either removable or fixed. There are four styles that will help measure most accurately:
1. Low Back - When looking from side of furniture the back may look like pyramid or square shape. This type has straight upholstered back rising above the armrests no more than 10 inches.
2. High Back - Similar to the Low back except that the straight upholstered back rises above the armrests usually by more than 13 inches.
3. Rounded Back - When facing the sofa, it has rounded, fully upholstered back (non removable back cushion) rising above the armrests no more than nine inches.
4. Tuxedo Back - On this type of furniture the height of the arm and height of the back are same or have difference of one-and-a-half inches.
After you've determined the style, make sure to measure size and shape of the seat, height of the skirt, back style and overall circumference of the furniture so that the slipcover can be made to the exact specs.
1. Measure the total length of the seat, left to right, tip to tip, at the widest point.
2. Be sure to measure the maximum thickness of back cushion at the top.
3. Top length can be found by measuring the total length of the back at the top at widest point.
4. Base depth can be measured with the distance from the back to the front of the couch at its widest point.
5. Skirt width is found by measuring the distance from the top to the floor.
6. Seat depth is the distance from to the back of the seat at the widest point.
7. Back height is the maximum back height from top to bottom at the highest point. Measure back depth on the maximum thickness of the back cushion at the bottom of the back. The back height is at the highest point, usually in the center of the couch.
8. Base height is the distance from floor to where the seat and back meet.
9. Back length is the measurement of the back, left to right, tip to tip, at the widest point.
